Chappell Roan is your favorite artist’s favorite artist—and if the last few months have proved anything, she might just be your favorite makeup artist’s muse as well. Her drag-inspired looks have become just as integral to her character as her campy performances and fabulously eccentric fashion, and will surely be noted as such in pop history. Whether she’s channeling Lady Liberty or drag queen Divine, her glam often includes a rainbow of vibrant eyeshadow and a dramatically lined lip.

What we love the most about Ms. Roan is her versatility. Like a chameleon, she has a look for every occasion—each seemingly better than the last. And while her makeup artist Andrew Dahling was the one who did up her looks for Paris Fashion Week, Chappell often paints her own face (meaning you too can master her over-the-top look). Ahead, check out our top 12 favorite looks from the rising pop princess.

Chappell Roan’s Best Beauty Looks

1. Rainbow Eyes

At the Grammy’s, the singer went all out with her makeup, pulling inspiration from drag queens with thin eyebrows, a dramatic cut crease, and a carefully sculpted lip. Bright pink and blue eyeliners put extra emphasis on her eyes, while false lashes made sure her eyes didn’t get lost within all that color. And as busy as this look is, we can still appreciate all the details—down to the pink diamond stickers attached to her yellow eyebrows.

2. Medieval Metallics

For the VMAs last year, Chappell worked with makeup artist Andrew Dahling to bring her metallic glam to life. Sword in hand, she emulated a medieval heroine with a pale white base and super skinny brows, while her eyeshadow matched her chainmail attire with shimmery gold and silver tones. A stained red lip helped bring her look altogether.

3. Victorian Princess

Chappell looked every bit like a princess when she stepped out at this year’s Grammy’s. Her Vivienne Westwood dress brought enough drama on its own—but knowing the singer, a bold glam was needed to make the look complete. A milky white base and glittery blue eyeshadow infused her makeup with her usual attitude, while a burgundy lip and matching blush really brought in that Victorian feel. Extra-long false lashes—which, naturally, curled all the way back toward her face—rounded out her look.

4. Vintage Glamour

Not everyone goes all out for their Saturday Night Live bumpers, but of course, Chappell Roan isn’t everybody. She and her makeup artist worked together to create a look that was literally show-stopping. Using the singer’s signature white base and diffused burgundy blush, the duo created a dimensional glam with blue and green eyeshadows, topping it all off with some rhinestone bling. Though you may not want to recreate the whole look for a night out, it’s worth taking elements of Chappell’s glam and incorporating them into your own.

5. Pink Pony Glam

A “Pink Pony Club” performance obviously calls for a matching pink look. For a performance in Dublin, Chappell dove right into the theme of her famous song, using fuschia and pink eyeshadows to highlight her eyes. Unlike some of her other looks, this one is easily replicable—especially if you already own a pink-toned eyeshadow palette. Simply use a darker shade to sculpt out the shape you want your eyeshadow to take, then go in with a glitter topper. Add in your black eyeliner last, and if you’re scared to draw your wing over your pink shadow, you can always trace out the shape you want with a darker eyeshadow first.

6. Black Swan Beauty

Roan’s black swan look is equally mesmerizing as it is terrifying. That said, you have to admire her and Dahling’s work to bring this glam together. A blonde curly wig, white feathered lashes, and contact lenses truly transformed the singer—and while we won’t be recreating this look anytime soon, her frosty nude lip is especially enticing. Working a similarly shimmery lipstick into your own rotation can take your glam from everyday to editorial.

7. Divine Drag Glam

Chappell has made it clear that plenty of her makeup looks take inspiration from the drag community, and one icon she often looks to in particular is drag queen Divine. Here, Chappell used sky-blue eyeshadow and skinny brows to pay homage to Divine’s look from the movie Pink Flamingos. Starkly lined lips and lots of pink blush were also key elements of her glam, while a drawn-on mole truly brought her cosplay to the next level.

8. Lady Liberty

It’s not every day a glam requires gallons of green body paint. Chappell went all out for her 2024 GovBall performance in New York City, paying tribute to one of the city’s most famous ladies. Her commitment to the bit alone makes this look iconic, but her glittery green lipstick and anime-esque false lashes show that her version of Lady Liberty is a makeup pro. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, try emulating this glam with a bold green eyeshadow look of your own.

9. Luchador Glam

Chappell put up a fight when it came to Lollapalooza—not with her performance but with her glam. Taking inspiration from Luchador wrestlers, the singer created her own kind of “mask” with graphic eyeliner, complete with black and silver flames. A stark black lip liner tied her look together.

10. Wicked Beauty

Green and pink may be well associated with Wicked at this point, but we’re still thinking of this Chappell look. Her contrasting lip combo and pink eyebrows serve as proof that even the most unexpected details can elevate your glam—so don’t be afraid to take risks when it comes to makeup. Whether that means trying a pink glitter shadow or a purple lip liner, own your look with the same confidence this pop star demonstrates.

11. Alien Glam

Chappell’s Paris Fashion Week looks were out of this world. Working with Dahling, the singer put a spin on her staple white-base glam, adding dramatic graphic eyeliner and an alien-esque dotting across her face. For an everyday take on this getup, incorporate the black dots into your next graphic liner look using a liquid black liner for precision.

12. Blushing Beauty

Chappell’s over-the-top outfits almost never eclipse her glam, and for good reason. To complement this gothic look she wore during Paris Fashion Week, the singer returned to her roots, relying on bold blue eyeshadow to emphasize her eyes. Pink eyebrows and faux freckles also made her glam just as statement-making as her ensemble, while her signature vibrant pink blush was dusted across her whole face. As blush enthusiasts, we’re here for it.
