There aren’t many makeup looks quite as timeless as nude makeup. The style has been around for ages, utilizing shades of soft browns, warm neutrals, muted peaches, and gentle pinks to create a soft or full-glam makeup style that suits every complexion. “They’re timeless, versatile, and align perfectly with the current shift toward skin-focused beauty,” celebrity makeup artist Dion Xu tells IPSY. “People are gravitating toward makeup that feels lightweight, enhances their natural glow, and works in any setting—from everyday moments to special occasions. Nude looks are universally flattering, especially when they’re shade-inclusive and tailored to individual skin tones, making them both modern and effortlessly chic.”
Whether you want something bold and edgy or soft and romantic, “nude makeup enhances your natural beauty and embraces your features,” celebrity makeup artist Hannah Biddle says. And we have just the nude makeup ideas to help you try it on for size, with makeup tips from the experts to boot. Read on to find a nude makeup look that fits your aesthetic!
It's about glam time you treated yourself.
Dion Xu is a celebrity makeup artist who has created looks for Ego Nwodim, Issa Rae, and more.
Hannah Biddle is a celebrity makeup artist who has created looks for Alisha Boe, Perry Mattfeld, and more.
Create a glowy and radiant finish for your nude makeup look by using skincare-based products in your makeup routine. Xu recommends the HAUS LABS Triclone™ Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation and the HAUS LABS Triclone™ Skin Tech Hydrating + De-Puffing Concealer. “Lightweight and buildable with skincare benefits, this duo gives a blurred, radiant finish that still looks like real skin,” he says.
Lori Harvey nails the style, especially regarding nude eye makeup. Makeup artist Diana Shin expertly pairs a glossy nude lip with a strong cat eye that elevates the soft glam look to a whole other level. Xu says to use the DANESSA MYRICKS BEAUTY ColorFix™ Mattes Multi-Use Waterproof Liquid Pigment to recreate this look at home. “These multi-use, long-wearing pigments work beautifully on eyes, cheeks, and lips, and are great for layering and customizing your natural makeup look,” he says. We love a multi-use product, especially one that’s waterproof and won’t budge during summer.
Rosy cheeks aren’t the go-to, but blush isn’t something you need to shy away from when sporting a nude makeup style. The key is to emphasize your cheeks with nude shades like “tones of caramel, terracotta, and taupe,” Biddle tells IPSY. Xu says the MARÉNA BEAUTÉ Blush Tarou shades are “great for deeper skin tones.” He also likes the ORTEGA BEAUTY Agave Glow Color Sticks because they “add natural color to cheeks and lids for a dewy, glow-enhancing finish.”
Pairing no-makeup makeup with nude makeup is one of our fave combinations—the celebrity MUAs love it too. Xu says to start with the PATRICK TA BEAUTY Major Skin Hydra-Luxe Luminous Skin Perfecting Foundation because it’s “a luminous, breathable foundation that delivers a perfected skin-like finish.” Pair it with a PATRICK TA BEAUTY Monochrome Moment Velvet Blush to add some color to your cheeks and eyelids. Of course, you can’t forget to finish with a nude lip like the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Lip Gloss in the Peachy Nude lip color to pull it all together.
Once you go matte, you never go back—at least that’s how we feel after we use the ONE/SIZE Turn Up the Base Blurring Foundation. Offering medium to full coverage, this foundation “smooths and perfects without feeling heavy,” says Xu. We especially love how soft and protected our skin feels, thanks to ingredients like white rose stem cells (to help improve the appearance of skin and absorb oil over time) and an avocado and mango hydra-blend (to help boost hydration for smooth, supple skin). Top it off with the ONE/SIZE Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder to absorb excess oil and blur uneven texture.
An easy look for beginners to recreate, this pouty nude lip look by Xu brings all the drama with minimal effort. The makeup artist starts with the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Long-Lasting Velvety-Matte Lip Liner in Mocha, then glides on the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Matte Lipstick in Honey Taupe while finishing with the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Lip Gloss in Peachy Nude to bring it all together. The great thing about ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS makeup products is that they come in a wide shade range, so you’re sure to find a nude lipstick, lip liner, or lip gloss in a shade that best suits your complexion.
REFY creative director and co-founder Jess Hunt is the queen of bronzer, proving it pairs best with a nude makeup look. Xu swears by the MAKEUP BY MARIO SoftSculpt® Shaping Sticks for their ease in creating an effortless, softly sculpted look. He’s also a fan of the MAKEUP BY MARIO SoftSculpt® Bronzing & Shaping Serums, which you can layer over foundation to create a sun-kissed glow all around your complexion.
Nude makeup doesn’t necessarily mean no makeup, and this soft glam look proves exactly that. Elevate your nude base by going heavy on the eye makeup, using the ORYZA Nude Shimmer & Contour Eyeshadow palette to create an eye look that wows. Complete your eyes with the TARTE™ Eyes on the Prize Duo, which features the TARTE™ Fake Awake™ Eye Highlight in Nude and the TARTE™ Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara to elevate the drama.
If orange is the new black, then latte makeup is the latest nude makeup. The style has been around for years, though it has risen in popularity more recently thanks to the likes of Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid. To start, Biddle says to “hydrate your skin well before your base makeup and avoid using heavy foundations or powders.” We love the FENTY BEAUTY Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation because its skin-smoothing, light-as-air formula stays put and comes in 50 unique shades. For the eyes, we go for espresso eye makeup using the PAT McGRATH LABS Celestial Nirvana Eyeshadow Palette in Nude Allure and a brown eyeliner like the HIPDOT Liquid Kohl Eyeliner. Finish with the NATASHA DENONA I Need A Nude Lipstick and voilà, your latte makeup look is complete.
In the same realm as latte makeup lives moca mousse makeup. Inspired by 2025’s Pantone Color of the Year, this nude makeup look utilizes products in the muted brown shade. We even curated a Mocha Mousse-Inspired Bundle to ensure you nail the style. Start with the E.L.F. SKIN Bronzing Drops to create a custom, sun-kissed glow as your base before going in with the BELLÁPIERRE COSMETICS Nude Eye and Face Book, which features 25 eyeshadows, contour, blush, and highlighter. Complete your eye makeup with the LAVAA BEAUTY No Chill Mascara in Brown. For your lips, add a pop of color with the BUXOM COSMETICS Plump Shot™ Collagen-Infused Lip Serum. The LAURA MERCIER Translucent Pure Setting Spray will lock the look in place for up to 16 hours while feeling light as a feather on your complexion.
Dewy, radiant, and naturally flawless, glass skin is all anyone can talk about these days. While it’s rooted in skincare, we find it pairs best with a little bit of makeup, especially more natural makeup like nude makeup. Because skincare is integral to creating this look, we recommend you start with the OLIVIAUMMA Glass Skin Tanghulu Shine Muscat Cleanser to remove oil and impurities. Follow with the OLIVIAUMMA Glass Skin Tanghulu Blueberry Serum for lightweight hydration that gives your skin the perfect amount of glow. Set your base with the CIATÉ LONDON Dewy Skin Vitamin C Glass Glow Primer, which will help you achieve that glass-like finish thanks to superstar ingredients like hyaluronic acid, yuzu, dragon fruit, and vitamins C and E. For your makeup, all you need is the KEVYN AUCOIN Glass Skin Duo that features the KEVYN AUCOIN The Contour Eyeshadow Palette in Deep 6 (the perfect palette for every skin tone) and the KEVYN AUCOIN Glass Glow Face in Solar Quartz (a multipurpose highlighter that brightens like no other). Achieve the look’s signature poreless, glass-like finish with the SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Mimosa Mist Glass Skin Setting Spray, which melds your makeup products as they set so they don’t turn out cakey.
“A nude makeup look is all about using makeup in neutral tones in a minimal manner to achieve a clean monochromatic look,” says Biddle. Xu expertly captures the essence of the style with this makeup look he did on Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim. When it comes to monochromatic makeup, you want a product you can use on your eyes, lips, and cheeks to keep the shade the same (or relatively similar) across your complexion. Some of our fave multitasking products include the HUDA BEAUTY Lip Blush Creamy Lip & Cheek Stain, the LAURA GELLER Multitasking Eye Lip Cheek Palette, and the PURLISSE BEAUTY Blush Glow BB Cheek + Lip.
The cat-eye look isn’t for everyone. Sometimes you want something a little more subtle, which is where the kitten-eye look comes in. As Biddle points out, it’s “ideal for hooded eyes and a softer and more wearable version [of the cat eye] during the daytime.” She uses the CHANEL BEAUTY LE CRAYON YEUX Precision Eye Definer in 66 BRUN CUIVRÉ, a shimmery brown that complements her eye color.
Both Xu and Biddle say that Bella Hadid is one to pull inspo from for your look when it comes to nude makeup. The it-girl shared her entire 5-minute makeup routine on TikTok, including the products she uses regularly to achieve her signature natural look. Some key products include the CLINIQUE Moisture Surge Sheertint Hydrator Broad Spectrum SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizer, the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Skin Face Essentials Palette, the FENTY BEAUTY Match Stix Contour Skinstick, and the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Color Pencil.
